Camping 2008

Well we finally did it. We went camping as a little family with lots of fun friends. I loved camping growing up. We did it a few times a year. I loved being outside and so free to run around, get dirty and eat great food. I loved every minute of being in the mountains. Now as a mother camping does take on totally new responsibilities. Getting all the gear, food, clothes, swimming stuff, sleeping stuff, and more stuff together is a lot of work. But watching the kids makes it totally worth it. They ran non stop from morning until way late at night. After we tucked them in at night Daddy stayed with them until the girls fell asleep. It didn't take very long.
Ava was very social and there were lots of little girls to play with. They ran around and played in the dirt.

Aaron taught the girls how to skip rocks on the river. As Bergen was practicing her skills she accidentally hit Ava smack in the middle of her forehead.

The camera didn't quite capture the goose egg on her forehead. It wasn't very big and she was just fine after a few tears.

Bergen really, really had a fun time. She had so much fun playing in the trees, mud, rocks, fire and sleeping in a tent. One of the highlights was holding a real fish head. She hates spiders, but touching an eyeball on a fish head is very exciting. She ran around with it and loved every minute of it.

We had rain all of the first night. The weather was great for camping, not to hot or cold. Boating on the other hand was a little chilly. The water was about 54 degrees, so only the die hards jumped in the water - Marianne and Jared:) We had fun on the tube, but just got on and off without falling in the water. It was a great weekend. Thanks to all of those who made it possible.
